PH22 Over Under Meaning Explained: Totals and the Push

Over under meaning in one line: it is a bet on the combined score of both sides, not on who wins. The book sets a number, called the line or total, and you back Over if the final total finishes above it or Under if it finishes below. Over under meaning in one table

Read the line first, then pick a side. The winner of the match does not matter.

Over under on a basketball total

Basketball totals are big numbers, so books set lines near the expected combined score. Say the line is 215.5 at decimal 1.90 on each side and you stake ₱100 on Over.

1. Team A beats Team B 110-108. Total 218, which is above 215.5, so Over wins.
2. The return is ₱100 × 1.90 = ₱190, a profit of ₱90.
3. Team B beats Team A 108-100. Total 208, which is below 215.5, so Under wins and your Over bet loses ₱100.

Only the sum counts. A 110-108 result and a 108-110 result are the same total.

Half lines and whole lines: the push

A half line, such as 215.5, cannot tie because no score has a half point. A whole line, such as 216, can tie, and an exact tie is a push where your stake returns.

On a ₱100 stake at 1.90, a win returns ₱190, a push returns ₱100 and a loss returns ₱0. The same rule appears in the settlement list of the sports betting terms and settlement rules.

Total points betting in football and other sports

Total points betting works the same way in any sport, only the scale changes. In football the total counts goals, so lines sit near 2.5.

1. Line 2.5, final 2-1: total 3, Over wins.
2. Line 2.5, final 1-0: total 1, Under wins.
3. Line 2, final 1-1: total 2, a push, and ₱100 returns ₱100.
4. Line 3, final 2-2: total 4, Over wins.

How to read the price on an over under bet

The line and the price are two different numbers. The line, such as 215.5, says where the total must land. The price, such as 1.90, says what a win returns.
